TALKING PICTURES Sander Coers
Sander Coers is a Rotterdam-based artist working with photography. By deconstructing and recontextualising memories, Sander seeks to uncover how histories—both personal and collective—are passed down through generations. Drawing from family archives and foregrounding materials like wood, textiles, and ceramics, as well as incorporating AI and digital manipulation techniques, his work examines the ways in which emotional repression is inherited, particularly among men.
Sander’s work has been exhibited in galleries and museums across The Netherlands and abroad, with features in Foam, Vogue, Die Zeit, i-D, and The Guardian. Since 2021, he has published three books, and his work has been acquired by the Preus Museum, the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Rabobank, and various other collections.
